Emergency department: The waiting is so long to put a diagnostic( about 5 hours) same as a governmental hospital even its a private. The physician was very professional and would like to give him 5 stars, but nurses enjoy really them times. Lady nurse was heartless. My self I was a specialist nurse before to retire, and know how to be with patient. I was starving from hunger and thirst, because of long time of wait. After the body TT with preparation (injection of opaque product), the patient should drink so much water to urinate, and eliminate the liquid injected in the vein. I was with a strong taste in my mouth, nobody advised me to drink, and given to me water before to request it my self. The kidneys can be intoxicated if no drink after the body TT. My advice to nurses of this department is to have a feeling toward the patient, not only works as a machine.

They have an ok international dept that calls to make sure you or your insurance can pay. That. They do very well.

They we pleasant when my husband went to emergency; I was not asked by the ambulance driver on that Saturday where I wished to go.

They are not reliable. Medication admin, patient focus, unfortunate.

I had to leave my husband the same night he was admitted, unfortunately. He was in a terrible state after a bad fall. But I wasn’t happy, since they’d given him an inactive remote meant for the lights , instead of the nurse calling remote. Luckily his intense pain and medication requirement flagged this mistake before I had to rush off.

Corticosteroids were not administered when they were meant to be,

Again after an operation, the 150 mg IV was taken out and then no more given to him. Nobody noticed his terrible condition the next day.

Surgeon was great at coming every day, but terrible about leaving prescriptions for imagery. And even worse at managing meds.

Hope there is no next time. But if so, I’ll know not to go there.

I saw a poor quality, inexperienced junior doctor who did not follow the correct medicinal protocol which later caused complications with my condition. I was not offered a refund for a wasted return appointment and was charged astronomical amounts of money, far above and beyond what was reasonable. The staff who were on hand for international translation were very nice, but i wasn't there to have a pleasant conversation. I was there because I was very poorly. I therefore can not recommend this hospital, with or without insurance.

This was really a good medical experience. They have an international department to provide translation service while you are at your appointment which not all hospitals have here. I am a practicing physician and felt in safe hands for my benign but annoying issue. Highly recommend.

My dad was admitted for a lower back pain. They called in a translator just in case, so we understand all the medical terms. She was Belgian and very friendly and helpful. The hospital was clean, and things went smoothly. They also guided me to get the meds from a near by pharmacy. The doctor was super nice with my dad and gave him time to talk about the details of his problems.

Came in with daughter with ear canal infection. For a little over 200 euros a very friendly doctor helped us. His conclusion was a mid-ear infection, before even looking inside her affected ear.
This was totally wrong, all signs pointed towards an ear canal infection. Yet, he prescribed a strong ORAL antibiotic AND told her she could keep on swimming. He did not look inside the ear until I asked him and even when seeing the inflammation still concluded it was a mid ear infection (!)
Oral antibiotics do not help for an ear canal infection and swimming makes it worse. I still do not understand how he gave us this terrible advice.
Within 2 days the pain was so severe she could not eat. Will never come back here again.

We have been several times as an outpatient in Santa Elena and have always been well received. It is well organised and the ladies at the reception are very friendly and helpful. The Cura or nurses are lovely and gentle too when taking out delicate stitches. We are very happy with our treatment by doctors and all the staff that we have seen. Thank you.

Rude and impatient staff, every single person in the building gets frustrated with the simplest questions and treats you like a burden. Certainly seems worse for English/Foreigners. Obvious racism. Which is astounding considering the prices here you would think they want your money.
